BACKGROUND
Betsy Finn Yegelwel graduated from the University of Florida in 1975 with a B.A. in American Studies, with honors and distinction. She obtained her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1980. Betsy received her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law in 1982.
Betsy’s practice began at Haber, Kaplan, and Rapoport in 1980, with a focus on corporate transactions and commercial litigation. In 1981, she returned to law school to pursue a Master of Laws in Taxation. Betsy began her tax law practice in 1982 with the law firm of Helliwell, Melrose, and Dewolf. In 1983, she left the Helliwell law firm to join the Miami office of the international law firm Finley, Kumble, and Wagner. Betsy’s practice involved tax planning for corporate, securities, real estate, and foreign individual clients, as well as estate planning. She continued to practice as a consultant with Tew, Jorden, and Schulte, the successor to Finley, Kumble, and Wagner, until 1990.
In 1990, Betsy became a partner in Bruce I. Yegelwel, P.A., where she continues to practice in the areas of civil litigation and mediation.
A Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator since 2002, Betsy has mediated thousands of commercial, real estate and personal injury cases.
