BACKGROUND
Bruce I. Yegelwel graduated from Rutgers College in 1971 with an A.B. in American Studies, with honors and distinction. He obtained his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1974.
Bruce’s practice has been devoted to civil litigation for over 40 years. He has handled numerous jury trials as lead counsel, ranging from basic negligence cases to catastrophic injury, multi-party medical malpractice cases, as well as commercial cases. His most recent trial was in April of 2018.
Bruce began his litigation practice with Stephens, Magill, Thornton, and Sevier in Miami, Florida. He became a partner with the Stephens Lynn law firm, and formed his solo practice, Bruce I. Yegelwel, P.A., in January of 1982. Between 2001 and 2005, Bruce practiced as a partner in Yegelwel, Reiser, Diaz, and Morel-Saruski. In 2017, Bruce I. Yegelwel, P.A. celebrated its 40th year of practice.
Bruce has represented major medical malpractice carriers including: The Florida Patient’s Compensation Fund, Physician’s Protective Trust Fund (and its successors), Gulf Atlantic Insurance Company, The Florida Doctors Insurance Company, and FPIC Insurance Group, Inc. He has also represented many self-insurance trusts, uninsured physicians, clinics, and hospitals, together with other health care professionals.
It takes a former defense attorney to understand how to best handle a medical malpractice case. Bruce currently solely handles plaintiff’s cases, with a focus on medical and dental malpractice matters. He has achieved a number of six-figure settlements for injured clients since 2014.
Bruce is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator, effective May 18, 2017.
